BLYTH Spartans will open their 2008-09 Blue Square North league programme with a home fixture at Croft Park.
They open on Saturday, August 9, against Solihull Motors, who they entertained in their final home fixture last season.

But they will be looking to improve on that performance as they went down 2-1.

This is followed by two tough away games against sides who finished in the top four last season.

On the Tuesday, August 16, Harry Dunn's men make the trip to Southport before another away game on the Saturday at AFC Telford, who missed out on promotion by finishing runners-up to champions Kettering Town.

Former Football League club Workington then visit Croft Park on Saturday, August 23, before a Bank Holiday Monday game in South Yorkshire at Farsley Celtic.

But the two games the Spartan Army will be most interested in come in a Christmas-New Year double-header.

On Boxing Day local rivals and newly-promoted Gateshead come to Croft Park before the green and whites make the short trip across the Tyne on New Year's Day for the return fixture.

Spartans end the league campaign with a trip to Lancashire to play Burscough FC on Saturday, April 25.
