Ian Evans, who is currently general manager, football secretary and treasurer of the Spartans senior, Blue Square North, side is determined to strengthen the juniors on and off the pitch and forge stronger links between them and the senior side.
"Despite having several roles with the senior side I did not hesitate to accept the offer to become Chairman of the juniors for season 2008-09," he said.
"Blyth Spartans Juniors have come a long way over recent years – testimony to the hard work put in by past and present committees, parents and of course managers.
"Off the field all of the clubs within the umbrella of Blyth Spartans Football Club, senior men, ladies, junior boys and girls and the newly formed 'A' team have all achieved Football Association Charter Standard status and we are now are on a drive, championed by club executive member Gordon Young to obtain the Community Charter award – a clear statement of our ambitions to continuously improve."
On the field the junior boys have begun to challenge for league titles participate in, and in certain instances, win cup finals.
"Personally I believe the fact that our coaches and managers are qualified to the required standard is the main catalyst which has created this renewed challenge for honours from all age groups," Mr Evans added.
"I can see the day when an eight-year-old youngster, after playing in each of the relevant age groups, could be making his debut for the senior semi-professional team.
"Now that would be some achievement!
"We're always on the look out for new players, boys or girls, to become part of the 'Spartans family' so anyone interested can contact me on (01670) 369308 or at
generalmanager@blythspartans.com"
The juniors have also appointed Ian Burt as club secretary and another fellow main board executive member Brian Davison will join Mr Evans on the juniors'committee.
This strengthening will see Blyth Spartans to continue as the most senior football club in Northumberland.
