BLYTH SPARTANS booked their place in the npower Northumberland FA Senior Cup Final with a 2-0 win at holders Morpeth Town on Tueaday night.
Goals from Phil Bell and a Gareth Williams penalty were enough for Blyth to avenge last season's shock final defeat to Morpeth.

The visitors opened the scoring when a deep cross from Andrew Johnson was headed in by Bell.

Town defenders claimed the Spartans striker's effort had failed to cross the line before it was cleared, but the officials gave the goal.

Within 20 minutes of the opener Blyth had doubled their advantage from the sport.

Johnson was again the creator as he was brought down, with Williams tucking the spot kick away.

The victory at Craik Park means Spartans will now meet either Newcastle United Reserves or Arngrove Northern League champions Whitley Bay in the final.

Their semi-final tie takes place on Thursday evening.

Blyth will be hoping to go one better than last season when they were beaten 3-2 at St James' Park by underdogs Morpeth Town.
