Seconds see off Backworth challenge

ASHINGTON Seconds completed a comfortable victory over Backworth seconds by a 36 runs margin at the Welfare ground.
Callum Urwin top scored for the Colliers with 67 and Jonathan Storey made the other major contribution with 40 whilst skipper Jonathan Sadler hit 20.

In reply, Martin Thewlis led the way taking four wickets with one each for Callum Storey, Ben O'Brien, Adam Nichol and Sadler as the home side ended on 145-8 from their 45 overs allocation.

Ashington's third eleven will meet Humshaugh in the semi-final of the League Cup after defeating Percy Main last Friday by five wickets.
