Seghill U14 63,
North Shields 0 SEGHILL U14s are a team in transition, with lots of new faces this season and are still learning how to play together as a team.
They have been on the wrong end of some heavy defeats already, but have shown progress and improvemen
ts in each game, with two tries already for captain Adam French.
Their aim was to continue to improve when they took on North Shields at Welfare Park on Sunday and right from the opening kick off Seghill dominated every aspect of the game.
Dean Cavalareo opened the scoring with a fine solo run for his first of three first-half tries.
Brad Glennie picked up the ball on the halfway line to run in Seghill’s second try, and from the restart, Seghill collected the ball and French added a third. Cavalareo’s second try followed, and was converted by Matthew Horner.
Despite North Shields’ best efforts, they could not stop Seghill’s relentless attack. Every Seghill player was keen to get hold of the ball, and to run at Shields defence.
When Shields were able to get the ball, Seghill tackled strongly to win back possession.
Adam Millar, showing the same turn of speed as older brother Tony, soon adding a fifth try, which French successfully converted, then, right on the stroke of half time, Cavalareo got his third try, with Millar adding the conversion, to give Seghill a healthy 36-0 lead at the break.
Seghill’s dominance continue throughout the second half with five more tries, including a fourth for Cavalareo and a second for French, with French converting his own try with the final kick of the game.
