CRAMLINGTON Table Tennis Club holds its AGM on Thursday, August 21, at the Sporting Club of Cramlington, beginning at 8pm.
From 7pm, prior to the meeting there will be tables available for those attending to have a game, if they so wish.

The meeting will end around 9pm and tables will again be available for play.

All club members, potential members and interested p
arties are invited to attend to hear and see what opportunities there are for those who want to play table tennis at beginner or advanced level.

Cramlington Table Tennis Club held its inaugural meeting in May 1995 to promote the sport and encourage new players, especially younger people, who might otherwise not have an opportunity to try the game.

Each year since then the club has grown in size and introduced more new people to the sport as well as being responsible for more than a few "born again table tennis players".

The club meets on Monday, Thursday and Friday evenings at the Sporting Club Cramlington within the grounds of Cramlington High School.

New members and visitors are invariably impressed by the facilities on offer with the high quality tables in an excellent sports hall being conducive to producing a good standard of table tennis.

The club is a registered charity with an aim to promote community participation in healthy recreation by the provision of facilities for playing table tennis.

This means that, although it has many good players, it is not an elitist club but is open to any one who wants to try or play table tennis, children and adults, male and female and whatever their ability.

Traditionally the summer season is a little quieter than the winter season which begins in September so the summer period is ideal for people to come along and have a go.

Friday evenings are club nights where youngsters and adults are encouraged to participate.

The club night is particularly good for beginners to attend as there is always someone there to give some basic coaching.

Those attending come not only from Cramlington but further afield, including members travelling in from North Shields, Wallsend, Morpeth, Bedlington, Blaydon, Gosforth, various parts of Newcastle and rural Northumberland.

As well club night there are Monday and Thursday evening sessions when league games take place alongside practice tables for those who want to play socially and to keep fit.

In the season beginning September the club will have a minimum of 16 teams in the league, two of those teams being in the premier division.

The club is always keen to attract new players; especially those who are prepared to attend occasional club nights and give some assistance in the coaching of the younger players.

If you are interested in learning more about the club, playing league or social table tennis at any level or helping out generally then come along any Friday evening or come to the AGM.
