BLYTH Town of the over 40s league had an excellent and satisfying result against a Durham side that are getting their act together after being relegated from the Premier Division last season.
The visitors started well and dominated the first 15 minutes of the match, but were stunned when the home side took the lead with their first attack when Tony Hayton, who was outstanding in the first half, slotted home from 12 yards.

After the break Dave Mackenzie unleashed an unstoppable effort that smacked against the bar, the first player to react was man of the match Craig Mordue who headed home the rebound.

The visitors replied ten minutes from time, but the Blyth side held out for a hard earned three points.

Graham Coates again was superb in defence and recent signing Brian Evans is adding extra flair to the midfield.

This result puts Blyth up to second place in the division and on Saturday they visit Darlington Croft.
