A TRIO of trampoline stars are jumping for joy after retaining a national title.
Two years ago, twins Jake and Matty Edwards finished second in the National Schools Trampolining Championships Finals but won it last year with Joe Pattinson.

This year, with new team members, the boys – who all attend Bothal Middle School in Ashington – went through two qualifying rounds to make it to the finals again.

But the route this year was tougher, with the boys finishing runners-up in the second qualifying round in Nantwich, which was enough to get them to the finals in Birmingham.

And once at the finals, the trio pulled off some great routines to retain the title.

Normally a team consists of four members, with the three highest scores counting, but with the team from Ashington Leisure Centre only having three members, there was no room for mistakes.

The team are coached by Simon Hunter as part of the VerteX trampoline club, with fellow member Harry Firth finishing second at the finals in his team from Kings School, Tynemouth.
