AT THE recent North East Athletics Awards evening, Blyth Running Club were notable winners of two of the trophies on offer.
Long serving member and club treasurer Dave Kitching received the award for "The Volunteer of The Year" in the North East Region; for his work and effort for Blyth Running Club in particular and athletics in the region in general.

As a club member for over 25 years and treasurer for nearly as long, Dave has seen the club grow and contribute fully to the success of athletics in the region.

He organises many events for club members and two of the most successful races in the north east – The Blyth 10k and the Sands Race.

Both of which have enjoyed record entries in recent years.

Blyth Running Club and Alnwick Harriers were awarded the trophy for "The Athletics Partnership of The Year" for the joint team they entered in the National Young Athletes League, which enabled many of their junior members to compete against other clubs in various events.

Both clubs were entering the league for the first time in their histories.
