Ashington 2nds XI completed the double for the season over neighbours Bedlington on a rain interrupted day at Langwell Crescent.

Winning the toss and batting first, Bedlington made steady progress and were 69-1 at one stage thanks to Martin Leason (32) and Lee Frost (24).

But after two prolonged rain delays the match was reduced to a 34-over game and Bedlington could only muster 107-7, largely thanks to a great spell from the experienced Michael Thewlis who completed figures of 4-8 from nine overs for Ashington.

Doug and Matthew Potts then got the run chase off to a bright start, Doug the stand-out contributor with 48 and in the end it was the experienced pair of Michael Thewlis (6 not out) and James Harmison (18 not out) who saw the hosts over the line.
