Bedlington first XI hosted Leadgate on Saturday with the second XI travelling to Lintz.

Chris Younger, Craig Robinson and Joe Carrick returned for the hosts.

On winning the toss skipper Sean McCafferty inserted the opposition and the visitors got off to a brisk start until Burdon was run out for six by a direct throw from Darren Leason.

The introduction of Nicky Douglas brought greater control and he accounted for A McCabe for seven.

The free scoring L McCabe fell for 59 with the score on 82, again run out by a direct hit, this time from McCafferty.

Josh Watson (3-29) and Douglas (2-24) bowled well in tandem and reduced the visitors to 142-7.

A score of 160 would have provided the hosts with an achievable run chase. Unfortunately this was not to be the case as a mixture of poor fielding and bowling and a fine knock of 75 not out from Stephenson saw the visitors through to 193 all out in the final over.

Younger and Levison opened up for Bedlington with Younger falling in the first over, bowled by A McCabe for two.

McCafferty (19), Levison (17), Harnett (5) Leason (7) and M Tanney (0) fell to leave the hosts in disarray at 53-6.

A super partnership of 60 from young Joe Carrick (28) and Matty Tanney (32) gave Bedlington brief hope but the run out of Carrick was the beginning of the end and the hosts were bundled out for 139 all out.

Bedlington 7 points

The second team triumphed over Lintz in a high scoring game.

Bedlington reached 327-6. Connor Leason 88, Lee Frost 66, Ian Anderson 65, Jason Canavan 51 and Chris Taylor 30 not out the main contributors.

The visitors reached 252 leaving the second team unbeaten in the league.

Next week sees local derbies for both teams against Ashington.

The firsts travel to Langwell Crescent whilst the seconds host Ashington at Hirst Head.
