Benefit year for Steve Harmison

DURHAM Cricket Club’s Ashington born pace bowler Stephen Harmison has been awarded a benefit in 2013.

Harmison, who turns 34 next month, came through the ranks with his home town club before embarking on a career with Durham, where he made his first class debut in 1996, and England.

A two times Ashes winner, the right armer’s best spell for his country came in 2004 when he took 7-12 at Sabina Park against the West Indies.
