Black Bull make their debut in pool league

THE BVPA Super-League, sponsored by Union Private Hire & Goschen Street Garage, continued the second half of the season with new team the Black Bull replacing Cramlington Village.

Week 19 saw league leaders Percy Arms involved in a classic with Comrades A as the match went all the way with Percy’s Kevin Mcgarry winning the play-off frame to seal a 7-6 win.

Joiners A closed the gap at the top with another close 7-5 win over Newsham Side Club.

In another close encounter, Comrades B edged a sudden death play-off with Ian Carr winning the decider in a 7-6 victory over Seahorse B.

Brockwell Seam had a tough match against an improving Sun Inn B, taking it 8-4.

The remaining games were more one-sided with Bedlington Station taking a 10-2 victory over Seaton Terrace.

Annitsford Irish also had the same result over Sun Inn A.

Finally, the improving Seahorse A had the biggest win of the week with an 11-1 win against Dudley.

Week 20 saw Percy Arms hold on to top spot after a 9-3 win over Seahorse B, however, with Joiners A beating Seaton Terrace 11-1, they are level on points but are behind Percy due to matches won.

Annitsford Irish hold third after a close 7-5 victory over Brockwell Seam.

Pressing Irish all the way are Bedlington Station after another classic match with a 7-5 win over Comrades A, who stay fifth.

Comrades B, in sixth, are pushing their A team all the way after a big 10-2 win over Dudley.

In seventh place are the ever improving Seahorse A after a 9-3 win over Sun Inn A.

Sun Inn B’s recent improvement was blunted when Joiners B recorded a 11-1 home victory with team captain Ian Straughan leading the way.

In the final match of the week, debutantes Black Bull found Newsham Side Club in good form, taking an 11-1 victory on the new boys.
