On their first outing of the season, Blyth went down by four wickets at Tillside.
Having to make a late change with Chan Purma injuring his hand, Ryan Kirkup stepped into the starting line-up.
Blyth batted first after losing the toss, and it was not a great start as Kikup went in the first over.
It was the start of things to come as only three players managed to reach double figures. Darren Carr with 20, Kevin Hudspith with 17 and skipper Mark Lawrence with 38 with four fours and a six.
Pick of the Tillside bowling was Wright with 4-36 from 11 overs.
Tillside lost an early wicket, however, they slowly went about the task of passing Blyth’s total.
Blyth took two quick wickets to get themselves back in with a chance, but Jonny Birkett with 35 from 36 balls had other ideas. G Hill (18 not out) and C McGregor (4 not out) saw the home side home. D Ebdale and C Walker with two wickets each for Blyth.
Blyth’s second XI’s game at home was called off due to the state of the ground.
On Saturday the first team are at home to Warkworth with a 1pm start.
