A TOTAL of 40 girls from Bede Academy North and New Delaval Primary School recently watched some of their netball heroes up close.

They were visitors to the recent Superleague netball match at Newcastle’s Sports Central between Team Northumbria and Loughborough Lightning, which was televised on Sky Sports.

New Delaval also had six girls who were ball girls for the match.

Throughout the game it was the girls from the two schools who could be heard making the most noise, clapping and cheering at any opportunity.

Although Team Northumbria did not win, the girls had an enjoyable evening.

After the match, the girls met the players and got autographs.

Ellie Ramshaw, from New Delaval Primary School, was voted best supporter at the game.

Back at school she was presented with a ball and some Team Northumbria merchandise to reward her for her efforts, and for being a fantastic representative of New Delaval Primary.

The six ball girls were chosen for their commitment to school netball, attending practices regularly, showing a good attitude, making an effort and improving their skills.

They were presented with a netball t-shirt to wear during the match and then keep, as well as at school being presented with a ball as reward for their success.

Afterwards, all six girls agreed they had thoroughly enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience.
