BLYTH seconds went to face Kirkley with a patched up side and suffered a 100-run defeat.
Batting first, Kirkley had put together an opening stand of 62 before the first wicket went down.
It was young Brad Puvis who took the first two wickets.
It looked like Blyth were facing a target well over 200 at this stage but they gradually began to get a grip of the game.
Cotterill got their main scorer when he bowled Wastell for 59, which included ten boundaries.
Other major contributors to a total of 161-7 were Burn, 22, Brown, 26, and Foster, 15.
Blyth’s bowling figures N Roberts 0-41, A Gill 3-24, G Cotterill 2-47, B Purvis 2-7 and M Stewart 0-26.
The Blyth reply was hopefully going to be built around Cotterill carrying on from last week.
But it was not to be as only two reached double figures – Gill (29) and M Stewart (10) – as they were all out for 61.
Taking wickets for Kirkley were D Cheek 4-12, Burn 2-24, Ball 2-8 and Froster 2-0.
Kirkley 30 points Blyth 3 points
The seconds are at home on Saturday to Monkseaton 2nds at 1 pm.
