Blyth seconds came up against a strong Blue Flames seconds and lost by 114 runs.
The Blue Flames side was virtually their first XI from last season’s premier division.
This was shown by the quality of their batting as they scored nearly 150 runs in boundaries.
In the runs for Blue Flames was Richard Chapman with 59, skipper Andy Horner (43), Moody (40) and Wlson (29) as they totalled 212
There was an outstanding fielding performance from Gary Cotterill, who was involved in nine of the wickets.
He took six wickets for 45 runs and also held on to three catches for other bowlers.
Blyth’s batting stuttered against the tight bowling from the Flames.
Top scorer was Peter Roberts with 18. Skipper Colin Blackett added 14 at the end even though he was under the weather.
Mark Stewart scored 16, his son James 13 and last week’s hero O’Conner with 11 as they were all out for 98.
Blue Flames 30 points; Blyth six points.
Next Saturday Blyth first and second teams are playing Berwick.
The first XI are at home with a 1pm start while the seconds travel up the A1, also for a 1pm start.
