Blyth second team won at Monkseaton with only ten men.
Monkseaton took first knock but the visitors’ bowlers made good use of the new ball with Thopmson and Gill opening.
Monkseaton put on 23 for the first wicket before Gill struck in his second over, trapping Benns lbw for 12.
Thompson then bowled the dangerous Zanneti for 11.
Gill then dismissed the next two batsmen, bowling Turnbull for one then having Thompson caught by Kirkup at slip for four.
Thompson and Gill then made way for Jonny Routledge and James Stewart, and the latter ripped through the middle order – bowling Nayar for 21, Common without scoring and Errington lbw for two. Routledge bowled Graham for six.
Thompson came back on and took the final two wickets. Firstly he caught and bowled Rankin for two then bowled Dodds for 14. Ramsahw remained two not out.
Bowling figures for Blyth were K Thompson 3-26, A Gill 3-23 J Routledge 1-25 and J Stewart 3-15.
A good all round performance from the Blyth bowlers.
Harwood and J Stewart opened up for Blyth and were well in control.
They had reached 36 when the first wicket fell, Harwood bowled by Rankin for 14.
Kirkup and Stewart pushed the score along to 50 when Graham bowled Stewart for 33.
The third wicket went down with the score on 60 when Errington bowled M Stewart for four.
Kirkup, skipper for the day, then played shots and A Routledge supported him. This pair took the total up to 88 when Errington bowled Routledge for eight.
Thompson and Kirkup saw Blyth to victory in the 28th over.
