Convincing win for Mullen in second bout
ASHINGTON junior boxer Joseph Mullen came in for high praise from his coach Alan Buller last week after winning a contest against James Harvey.
In only his second fight, Mullen travelled to Derwent Manor Hotel in Consett where he came face to face with Harvey, who was representing the host club, in a bout that proved to be all one-way traffic.
Mullen came out in the first round all guns blazing and gave Harvey several good head shots, resulting in a standing count.
The second round saw much of the same with Harvey receiving more counts.
Then early in the third Mullen was on top again with some good combinations to both head and body resulting in the referee stepping in to stop the fight.
“All of the good work that Joseph has put in at the gym has helped him to win convincingly,” said coach Alan Buller
“He is a credit to the Ashington-based club.”
