ASHINGTON Cricket Club will be holding their annual dinner, which is open to all current, past members and supporters, on Saturday April 2 at the Miners’ Institute.
First team captain Michael Thewlis is keen to see a good turnout from former players and officials at the event.
“We have booked a large venue for the dinner this year and hope to attract as many people connected to the club as possible,” he said.
“In particular, we want to see as many former players and officials, as well as their wives and girlfriends to join us.
“Like most clubs, once people finish playing or umpiring, they often don’t come to the club and we lose contact with them.
“Younger players hear stories and anecdotes about former players but don’t know who they are.
“We are hoping that those involved in the club’s past come along to the annual dinner and meet our current players.”who isanyone in touch with former players and members, should contact Steve Nichol on 07903 699178.
