Allotment skipper joins Colliers

ASHINGTON CFC manager Gary Middleton has signed defender Craig Scott from West Allotment Celtic.

The 6ft 3in centre back was captain of the North Tyneside side who were relegated from the Northern League first division at the end of the season.

Middleton said: “Craig is an excellent signing. He is a very good up and coming central defender with loads of potential and I think he is going to blend in great with the young team we have got.”

Scott, 23, linked up with West Allotment from Walker Central when manager Paul Bennett took over the reins at Whitley Park two years ago.

The new signing said: “Ashington’s assistant boss Neil Winskill worked with my school team and I know how good a coach he is.

“However, I was also struck by how ambitious the Colliers management are and how they want to take the club forward – and I want to be part of it.

“I cannot wait for the season to start and I’m already training.”
