Antony is Ashington’s first signing of the summer

ASHINGTON CFC manager Gary Middleton has brought in his first new player of the summer after agreeing terms with midfielder Paul Antony.

A delighted Middleton said: “Paul is a player whom my assistant Neil Winskill and myself have admired for a lot of years.

“We have tried in the past to get him and we are thrilled to bits.

“Paul is an ambitious player who has come for a new challenge – and that challenge is to take our club forward in the hope of winning silverware.”

Antony, who was with Newcastle Benfield, needs no introduction to the fans at Woodhorn Lane.

His dramatic overhead scissors kick clinched Benfield all three points in a 2-1 win in mid-April.
