ASHINGTON Ladies conceded an 89th minute equaliser against North Shields which saw them miss out on winning the Northumberland Ladies and Women’s League outright.
With Lowick beating Blakelaw 4-2, they were given a share of the title as they finished level on points with Ashington.
Ashington do have the better goal difference but because of the number of games forfeited involving the two sides, the league decided the title would be shared.
Ashington began well against North Shields with Stacy Naples and Karen Wright both going close.
Wright then powered a header home from Laura Jobson’s corner.
Shields had a couple of good chances with ex-Angel Holly Blaney hitting the bar and Laura Powell saving well from Bennett before the same player equalised
Both keepers made saves before substitute Georgia Latto produced a cross for Danni Clasper to ram home.
The visitors quickly equalised a second but on 82 minutes Wright unleashed a shot past the stranded keeper.
But as the minutes ticked away, Shields won a corner in the 89th minute and from the resultant kick the ball cannoned off Lauren Kavanagh’s leg and in.
