Ashington manager Gary Middleton will be hoping for nothing but a Sunday best performance from his squad in the next round of the FA Cup.
This is because the Colliers’ trip to face Albion Sports in the preliminary round has been put back 24 hours and will now be staged on Sunday, August 31, at 3pm.
Woodhorn Lane football secretary Brian Robson said: “Albion Sports ground share with Farsley Celtic and as they are hosting a game of their own on the Saturday, our opponents have been in touch with us to ask if we would be play on the Sunday – and we have agreed.”
Mr Robson added that in the event of a replay being required, it will be held at Ashington on Tuesday, September 2, with an 8pm kick-off.
Meanwhile the Colliers will take on a Newcastle United XI in a friendly at Woodhorn Lane on Thursday, August 28, where kick-off is 7.30pm.
