Ashington FC handed a debut to goalkeeper Ben Dudzinski against Bishop Auckland on Saturday after regular stopper Conor Grant had been ruled out earlier in the week due to injury.

And head coach Ian Skinner said he had no hesitation in naming the youngster, a student at Durham University, in the starting line-up.

“Ben has trained with us two or three times this season,” he said.

“He is a very, very good goalkeeper who played a number of games for Tow Law last year and knows what the Northern League is all about.

“Consequently when I heard Conor was injured I drafted Ben in, and he has made at least two really good saves in his first outing.”
