Ashington have a Grand division celebration

TWO teams are celebrating after being crowned division champions in the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League.

The Albert North Shields won Division One while Ashington Grand claimed the honours in Division Two.

The Premier Division is still to be decided with Ashington Mortimer at the top but Burradon still have games in hand to hang on to their title.

The Mortimer continued their run of good form with a 5-2 win away to Newbiggin.

Also with a win was Whitley Bay Cibos beating Blyth Comrades 2-1. Goals for the Cibos came from Mark Nicholson and James Novak. Daniel Long scored for the Comrades.

Division one saw the Albert win 2-0 away to the Seahorse thanks to goals from Colin Dougal and Craig Hull.

Shock of the day saw runners up Monkseaton Hunting Lodge lose 6-3 at home to Blyth High Street. The visitors had Anthony Goldie in sparkling form as he scored five. Jason Smart scored their final goal. Tony Fawcett (2) and Stephen Dynes scored for the Lodge.

Blyth Masons went down 5-1 at home against Rockcliffe Arms. James Woodhouse scored for the Masons. Goals for Rockcliffe came from Simon Gourley (2), Darren Patton, Jamie Wilkins and an own goal from a bullet header from Ben Lee.

The Milbourne Arms moved in the top four with a 5-0 home win against New Delaval and Newsham, who had outfield player Ian Locke in goal and he turned in a fine performance to with the man of the match award.

Goals for the Milbourne came from Mathew Lawn (2), David Brotherick, Martin Douglas and Adam Hughes.

In the final game of the day, Ashington White House won 2-1 at home against a scratch Ashington Grand side. Lee Julian and Michael Old scored for the White House. A rare goal scored by Michael Anderson for the Grand.
