Ashington High School Sports College Under-18s suffered the agony of a penalty shoot-out defeat in their national cup tie against Wetherby.
The tie on Friday afternoon, which was played after the original game was abandoned the previous week an hour in after a series of off the ball incidents, ended 3-3 after 90 minutes and then extra time.
Ashington had come back from a goal down to lead 3-1 at the interval.
However, they were pegged back by their hosts to force extra time.
But a further half hour failed to separate the two sides and a penalty shoot-out ensued.
Sadly Ashington missed the chance of securing a quarter-final place i the ESFA National Cup when they were edged out 5-4 in spot kicks.
