Ashington CFC have arranged their first pre-season friendly for July.
The Colliers will welcome Manchester League premier division outfit Prestwich Heys to Woodhorn Lane for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, July 27.
Confirming the warm up fixture, Ashington football secretary Brian Robson said: “This encounter will be different because it is against a team from outside the area and whom we know little about.”
Prestwich Heys finished in mid-table last season.
Meanwhile Bishop Auckland’s 2-1 win over Guisborough in midweek saw them clinch sixth place in the Ebac Northern league first division, which meant Gary Middleton’s outfit finished the season in seventh.
Meanwhile the Ebac Northern League’s first division Fair Play Award scheme for the season just ended lists the Colliers in sixth place.
“It is a good achievement and shows that the players take there responsibilities very seriously,” added the club’s football secretary.
Dunston UTS topped the chart closely followed by Team Northumbria.
