In the semi-finals of the NFA County Cup, Ashington RAOB lost 2-0 to a well organised Cullercoats.
Cullercoats took the lead within the first ten minutes after an Ashington defender put the ball into his own net.
In the second half ‘The Buffs’ tried to grab an equaliser but were denied any clear cut openings by a well drilled back four.
Their closest effort was a long range strike from Damon Mullen which was tipped round the post.
With the last kick of the game Cullercoats put the tie to bed as a crisp counter-attacking move resulted in a shot into the top corner giving goalkeeper Sean McCaffrey no chance.
In the Lewin Cup semi-final second leg. Amble Tavern took on The Wharton Arms with the tie finely poised at 1-1 from the first leg, and it was Amble who progressed with a narrow 2-1 victory on the day and an overall 3-2 victory.
On target for Tavern were Lee Harker and Nathan Buddle while The Wharton goal was scored by Adam Beecroft.
In the only division one game of the day, Riverside Lodge and Stobswood played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Riverside’s goals came from Darren Percy and Jamie Thompson, with the Stobswood strikes coming from Mark Sinclair and Robert Baker.
In division two The Elephant picked up a 4-0 win over Alnmouth Argyle with Azz Wright (2), Michael Carr and Carl Brydon on target.
Morpeth Shambles recorded a 3-0 win over Amble Blue Bell.
