Ashington FC’s on-fire striker Glen Taylor has revised his goals target for the season after netting four in his last two matches.
The 24-year-old, a teaching assistant at Wyndham School in Gosforth, had looked to hit the 30 mark from the onset of the season, but in a disappointing campaign altered the figure to 20.
However, a revitalised Taylor said after his side’s 3-0 victory over Penrith: “I hit a hat-trick at Shildon then after being unavailable for the match against West Allotment Celtic, which we won 4-0, was pleased to return to the side.
“Saturday’s goal at Penrith was my 19th for the season and I’m feeling confident in front of goal, something which I hadn’t been until we won at Shildon.
“I was on 15 and the three at Shildon has just changed the whole complexion of my goals tally.
“I set a target of 30 at the start of the season but for the past six months it’s been difficult, but I’ll be happy with a haul of 25.”
Of Saturday’s goal, Taylor said: “It was a battle at Penrith but I scored with my one and only chance of the game after a great ball from Ben Christensen, and I was happy with that.”
