Young footballers have been crowned champions in the county.

Astley Community High School Year 13 boys were crowned Under 18 Northumberland Schools’ League Division Two champions after securing a 4-2 victory of St Thomas More in the play off for the Northumberland Schools Division Two title.

Astley’s first goal came in the first five minutes and the team continued to dominate throughout the game with three goals from Steven Cutts and one from James Armstrong.

A fantastic team effort and outstanding football from Jay Wilcox, Callum Morgan and Callum Moore brought the cup back to Astley Community High School.

Mr Cairns, football development coach at Astley Community High School, said: “This is a fantastic achievement from the team. I’ve been impressed throughout the year by the commitment and passion they’ve all shown to win this title.”
