Bedlington Terriers continued their run of good form with two wins in a week.
They secured a superb 2-0 in midweek over Northern League division one side Newcastle Benfield in the Northumberland Senior Cup with goals from inform striker Lee Scott and Dave Halliday.
They then followed that up by beating Thornaby 4-2 on Saturday in a league meeting.
After a disastrous start to the season, the Welfare Park club’s fortunes have been turned around since the appointment of manager Paddy Atkinson.
However, it did take late goals to take maximum points from the Thornaby game when a draw looked on the cards
Following the great performance at Benfield in midweek, the opening half of Saturday’s game was a drab affair with good football at a premium.
The score was 2-2 at the interval with Scott getting both goals for Bedlington.
After the break Terriers took control, and with centre half Chris Armstrong again outstanding they pressed hard for a third goal.
Jack Foalle was a constant threat throughout, giving the home defence a torrid time, and in the 84th minute he broke into the penalty box and was upended, allowing Scott to complete his hat-trick form the penalty spot.
And in the dying minutes it was Foalle who fired home number four after another good break.
On Saturday Bedlington entertain Crawcrook in a division two game, kick-off 3pm.
