THE Blyth School Under-13s rallied from an early setback to beat Ponteland Middle School 3-1.
Blyth were behind after only five minutes after a breakdown in communication between goalkeeper Liam Henderson and central defender Ainsley Foster allowed Ponteland to score.
Blyth responded with wide players Liam McKee and Jordan Wright creating openings.
After a reshuffle at half-time, Blyth started brighter of the two teams and Wright was unlucky to see two shots from distance just go wide.
Following a bit of pressure McKee put Blyth in front with two quick goals, both after good build up play from Marc Grey.
Some fantastic one-on-one saves from Henderson kept Blyth ahead before Grey got the goal his work rate deserved with a header.
Manager Mr Beecroft said after the game: “I am immensely proud of the boys. They have put on a superb team performance against difficult opposition.”
Squad: L Henderson, J Young, J McDonnell, A Foster, A Beattie, L McKee, K McLean, M Grey, J Wright, M Green, S Hall, J Weatherby, S Stephenson, M Nesbit.
