Blyth Spartans have been busy with signing of four players.

Spartans have announced the signings of Richard Pell, Matty Pattison, Michael Lidle and the re-signing of Nathan Buddle.

I’m very grateful that the finances have been made available to bring in top-notch players

Manager Tom Wade

Defender Pell was part of the Spartans’ historic FA Cup run squad of 2008/09 before he had to move south with his job and he signed for Alfreton.

The location of his employment changed once more seeing him return to the north east and re-sign for Blyth.

Keft back Liddle spent the final couple of months last season with Dunston after having sustained an

injury earlier in the campaign at Hibernian.

Liddle started his career with Sunderland and spent three seasons with Accrington Stanley in League 2.

He has also had loan spells with Carlisle, Leyton Orient and Gateshead. He is also a Republic of Ireland U21 international having made five appearances for them.

Midfielder Pattison played 10 times for Newcastle United in 2006 before joining Norwich City for whom he made 51 appearances.

He went on to play in his native South Africa before joining Gateshead in 2014.

He was released by the Tynesiders at the end of last season.

Buddle has re-signed for the Spartans in advance of next season.

The former Hartlepool, Carlisle United and Gateshead player made his debut for Blyth in August

2013 and has gone on to play over a hundred games for the club, scoring eight goals.

Manager Tom Wade said: “I’m very grateful that the finances have been made available to bring in top-notch players like Matty. This had been made possible because of increased attendances so we have our fans, as well as the Board, to thank.”
