Blyth Town FC’s pre-season programme continued at the weekend with a game against North Shields.

The game, at Blyth’s South Newsham ground, attracted 222 supporters and gave the home club the chance to showcase some of their latest first team recruits in the 1-0 defeat.

Blyth Town benefitted from a £500,000 investment into the team and the club’s facilities including a new flood-lit training ground (Northern League division one standard – Grade H), upgrades to the pitch and improved clubhouse including changing rooms and hospitality areas.

Manager Mick Connors said: “We are excited to be able to welcome other clubs and visitors to our ground and showcase our new facilities to the community for the pre-season friendlies.

“We have made some great progress so far this pre-season and some of the latest recruits to our team have proved to be a real asset.”

Blyth Town will face Spittal in Berwick on Saturday, July 23, followed by the highly-anticipated home clash against Blyth Spartans on Saturday, July 30.

Supporters can pay £5 on the door (includes complimentary drink from the clubhouse bar) and concessions are available by contacting 07710 715045.
