Burradon and New Fordley retain Sunday league title

Burradon and New Fordley retained the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League premiership title with a 9-3 home win against Blyth Comrades.

Leading the scoring was Michael Chilton with a hat-trick. Further goals came from Steve Howes (2), Lee Waugh, David Atkinson, Graeme Cairns and Michael Hall. Scoring for the Comrades was Terry Self, Michael Meins and Daniel Long.

Ashington Bubbles won 3-1 at home against North Shields Royal Arms thanks to goals from Kris Allington (2) and Che Aisbitt. Liam Said scored the consolation goal.

Forest Hall put up a good performance at home against Wansbeck Pots and Slots before going down 3-1. Richard Kelt scored for Forest Hall. Goals for Pots and Slots came from Stephen Frater (2) and Martin Humble.

New Delaval and Newsham went down 3-0 at home against High Street despite their keeper Kurt Danielson saving two penalties. On target for the Street were Anthony Harvey, Chris Laidlaw and Anthony Goldie.

In division one, Blyth Sports and Social Club pulled of the result of the season when they outplayed champions South Beach 7-1 to inflict their first defeat of the season and claim runners-up spot. Goals came from Jason Hamilton (4), Vince Palmer, Paul Joicse and Craig Danielson.

Blyth Last Orders overcame Stakeford Cherry Tree 2-0 at home with goals from Mathew Wade and Andrew Farrier.

Ashington Excelsior won 3-2 against Newbiggin Bankhouse thanks to a Jamie Graham hat-trick. On target for the Bankhouse were Rob Haldon and David Jobson.

Ashington White House had a good win at home 6-2 against Blyth Isabella Colliery. Jason Ritches led the scoring with a hat-trick for the White House plus goals from Craig Towert, Andrew McLennen and Ryan James. On target for the Isabella were Eion Ridley and Paul Bertram.

Blyth Waterloo came back from 3-1 at home to run out 6-3 winners against A E Phoenix. Kevin Chapman scored a first half hat-trick for the Phoenix. Waterloo’s scorers were Darren Walker (2), Martin Robinson (2), Kyle Walker and Gary Adamson.

In a very entertaining game, FC Beacon went down 6-3 at home against Marden Residents. Michael Lamb scored a hat-trick for the Beacon. Leeroy Odd (3), Sean Joyce (2) and Michael Wedderburn scored for the visitors.

Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday Football League are looking for teams to compete in the 2014-15 season.
