NEWCASTLE United have agreed for Dan Taylor to continue his ‘ongoing’ loan spell with Ashington.
The 18-year-old striker, who is based in Whitley Bay and who has linked up with the club on work experience, was restricted to making only one appearance during his first month due to injury.
He scored twice in the 4-2 derby victory over Bedlington at Welfare Park on Boxing Day before picking up a hamstring injury.
He was due to start against Spennymoor a fortnight ago until the game at the Brewery Field was called off.
Taylor was lined up to play in Tuesday’s clash against the Moors at Woodhorn Lane after being ineligible for the FA Carlsberg Vase.
Colliers boss Gary Middleton said: “We are delighted we have got Dan’s services and thank Peter Beardsley, Willie Donachie and Newcastle United for their help and co-operation.”
Taylor said: “It will be good to have more games because I only played the one match – and I’ll be looking to build on my two-goal debut by scoring a few more.”
