BLYTH Rangers Deportivo Under-13s went into their game against Bedlington Juniors Blades hoping to get back to winning ways after a heavy defeat last time out at Montagu Juniors.
The visitors started the game well and man of the match Kristian Sands and David Dunworth linked up early on only to see the home keeper in good form.
Bedlington scored the opening goal in the 11th minute when the lack of a challenge in the middle of the park allowed a pass to set the Bedlington centre forward away and he slotted past Cockburn.
Rangers had a couple of chances from Dunworth and Jack Bell, but it was Bedlington who scored again in the 18th minute to double the lead.
Things went from bad to worse for Rangers when a third goal went in ten minutes later and then following a back pass Bedlington scored a fourth just before the break.
Jordan Hall pulled a goal back in the 44th minute and then a couple of minutes later scored again to make it 4-2.
At this stage Rangers had the bit between their teeth and it was no surprise when Tom Fulthorpe scored again for Rangers to make it 4-3.
The next goal was always going to be crucial, and with 12 minutes remaining a tiring Blyth team allowed a strong run through the middle of the park before the ball was despatched past Cockburn to make it 5-3.
Bedlington scored a couple of late goals to make the final score 7-3 – leaving Rangers to reflect on what might have been with a better start to the game.
