The Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League fixtures are starting to pile up.

Once again, Forest Hall’s NFA Minor Cup tie against Newcastle and Tyneside Irish Club was called off.

They will try again next Sunday, and the fixture will revert back to Forest Hall’s ground.

All league fixtures scheduled were off as well, however, two games were played in the JD Marnock Cup.

In a close game in round one, Marden Residents and Blyth Isabella Colliery could not be separated after 120 minutes of football.

The scores were 2-2 at full-time and nothing changed during the extra 30 minutes, so the game was decided on penalties.

It was Isabella who kept their cool and ran out 4-2 winners to move into the next round.

Goal scorers during normal time were Paul Richardson and Tony Fawcett for Marsden Residents with Paul Bertram and Duane Dunn replying for Isabella.

Round two of the same competition saw AE Phoenix and Stakeford Cherry Tree having to go all the way to extra time before it was decided.

After normal time the scores were level at 3-3, and then a goal in extra time for the Cherry Tree decided the tie in their favour.

On target for Phoenix was Kevin Chapman (2) and Andrew Hedley, with goals for Cherry Tree came from David Kewn (2), Jake Gray and Mark Wilkinson.
