Fox Cover pull off cup shock

IN the George Davison cup, second division Ashington Fox Cover pulled off a shock win away to premier division Whitley Bay Cibos.

Cover won the game with only seconds left by the odd goal in seven.

Goals for Cover came from Steven Gardener (2), Steven Clark and Aaron Frazer.

The Albert North Shields beat Blyth Masons Arms 2-1 to reach the final of the Saints Shield where they will meet Ashington Grand Street.

Goals for the Albert came from Craig Hull and Andrew Doig.

The Alan Davison Cup saw Burradon and New Fordley reach the final with a hard fought win away against Ashington Mortimer, beating their hosts 2-0 with goals from Ian Lee and Michael Chilton.

In the premier division, Blyth Comrades had a good 4-0 win at home against Newbiggin FC with all four goals scored by Daniel Long.

Tynemouth Gunner and Ashington RAOB shared the points in a 2-2 draw, the Buffs coming from two goals down thanks to strikes from Michael Freathy and Dan Branley.

Ashington Grand Street had a fine 5-0 in their division one game at home against Rockcliffe Arms with goals from Chris Hogg (3), Daryl Townesy and Stephen Frater.

Blyth Seahorse got back to winning ways with a 5-1 win at home against Monkseaton Arms. Goals for the Seahorse came from Brian Gabbitas (2), Ray Armstrong, Andrew Sutherland and David Burt.

Monkseaton Hunting Lodge had to work hard to beat a revived New Hartley.

Milbourne Arms found North Shields Gunner in top form, going down 5-1 at home. Scott Brotherick scored for the Milbourne. Goals for the Gunner came from Martyn Evans (2), James D Ridley, Josh Corrigan and an own goal.

Division two saw Blyth Prince of Wales and Bedlington Community play out a 3-3 draw. The result was in doubt right up until the final whistle. Goals for Prince came from Jamie Summers (2) and Ross McLeod. On target for Bedlington were Daryl Gibson (2) and Joe Herron.

Whitley Bay Bedroom eased passed Blagdon Arms Cramlington 3-1. The game could have been closer as Blagdon missed a penalty.
