THE weather may have been cool at The Hirst Welfare Centre but the action was hot as MB Socca Leagues staged another enthralling night of six-a-side football.
The two top teams of the moment in divisions one and two clashed in a heavyweight friendly.
Not an inch was given by either team and Real Ashington, current champions of division one pitted their wits against the slick V&N Jewellers, who are taking division two by storm.
V&N’s possession at times was excellent, but they had the wind knocked out their sails as Real manged to pull off a great 2-1 win.
Station Boys remain in second slot in the top flight as their recent good form continued in a 3-1 win over Whipping Boys.
Base FC got back to winning ways and claimed all three points with a 2-1 victory over Multiple Scoregasms.
In division two, after their stumble in their friendly game, V&N Jewellers showed their class in what was a one-sided affair as they continue their pursuit of the title.
There was no stopping them as they put 11 past Ashington All Stars.
Sparta Hatbreath are keeping the heat on, though, as they remain just two points following a 0-0 draw against Red Devils.
Station FC remain third top as they put past Brazilliant whilst keeping a clean sheet.
