Ashington CFC Under-10s won a tournament in Blackpool in dramatic fashion.

The team won through to the final after topping their group after finishing unbeaten in five games.

They then overcame local team Bipsham Juniors in the quarter-finals 3-1 before a 4-2 penalty shoot-out success in the semi-final against another Blackpool team, Poulton FC.

In the final, Ashington were again forced to a penalty shoot-out after drawing 1-1 with south Manchester outfit Reddish Vulcans.

Six outfield players from either side took their penalties before Ashington goalkeeper Nathan Lyall put his side 6-5 in front and then saved the next Vulcans penalty to win the competition.
