IN the Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League premier division, the game between North Shields Gunner and Blyth Comrades turned out to be a goal feast.
There were 11 in total and both sides had a player scoring four with Comrades eventually claimed the points in a 6-5 win.
Scoring for Gunner was Paul Noon with four and John Ball.
On target for Comrades was Steven Molloy with four, Michael Meins and Andrew Davison.
Division one saw an even contest between New Delaval and Newsham and Blyth Masons.
The game was switched to Masons’ ground and both sides had plenty of chances to claim the win, however, in the end the points were shared in a 3-3 draw.
Scoring for Newsham was Ian Locke, Gavin Maddison and a rare goal from Kevin Turner. On target for Masons was Kevin Long (2) and David Thompson.
The game between the top two sides did not dissapoint. Ashington Grand thought they were cruising when they went 3-0 up on 15 minutes, but The Percy came storming back with four goals to take the lead.
However, they could not increase the difference, due mainly to the Grand keeper and his side scored two futher goals to take the points. Goals for Percy came from Paul Joicse (2), Paul Cotterill and Steven Rylatt, while the Todd brothers, Michael with a hat-trick and Graham with a double were on target for the winners.
Division two saw Ashington Bubbles win an exciting game away against New Hartley 2-0 with goals from Kris Allington and Che Aisbitt.
The game of the day was at Ashington Central who entertained Bedlington Community with the sides scoring 14 goals.
Bedlington finally ran out 8-6 winners with goals from Jamie Graham (6), Liam Isaac and Michael Douglas. ON target for Central was Richard Hall (3), Jason Wilson, Mark Taylor and David Sturgeon.
