NEW Hartley Juniors returned to league action on Saturday when Basement Club Leam Lane were the visitors.
It took Hartley only 30 seconds to take the lead with a Ryan Redford effort.
And only two minutes later Jamie Heathcote made it 2-0.
Simon Gallen then put Hartley three up with only ten minutes on the clock, and this looked game over until the Gateshead side pulled two back in as many minutes to make it 3-2.
Just before the break Heathcote got his second and Hartley’s fourth to go in 4-2 up at the break.
The second half was a close affair until Reece Farrel scored with a great strike to seal a 5-2 win for Hartley.
