Ashington, the defending champions of the Techflow Group Northumberland Senior Cup, have been handed a plum home clash against neighbours Blyth Spartans in the semi-final of this season’s competition.
The draw, which sees last year’s defeated finalists Whitley Bay travel to face Newcastle United Reserves in the other tie, was made on Saturday night.
Colliers boss Gary Middleton said: “There are four very good teams left in the competition and consequently we knew that whoever we were drawn against was going to pose us with a difficult clash.
“However, we have got a home draw, which is a plus for us in the equation and we’ll be looking forward to it, that’s for sure.”
The games are to be played on or before March 22.
