Jewellers miss out on top spot

THE Thursday night six-a-side MB Socca Leagues are hotting up at the Hirst Centre in Ashington.

In the latest round of matches, division one commenced with a top of the table clash between first placed Real Ashington and second placed V&N Jewellers.

What was a chance for V&N to take the lead over Real at top spot turned into a nightmare as they lost 4-1 to the champions.

They are now three points clear of V&N with eight games to play.

A great encounter between The Whipping Boys and Bubbles FC took place on pitch two and chances at both ends saw the game end in a 2-2 draw.

This was mainly due to Whipping Boys’ goalkeeper, who pulled of two amazing saves, one of which was the save of the season so far as he kept his team level.

The final game was even better as Station Boys took on Station FC.

It was end to end and a goal feast as Station Boys won it 4-3.

In division two, leaders Bayern Neverlusen took on third placed ACE United, and a tight game saw Bayern win 1-0.

New side Ashalona FC took on Bankhouse and honours were even as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

The final game gave Ashington All-Stars a chance to go nine points ahead of third place and make promotion to division one look a great prospect.

They saw off Bedlington Top End FC 4-1 and manager Lofty was left proud as punch at his white army.
