FOR the second successive season Ashington CFC Ladies missed out on a League Cup final spot.
Last season Whitley Bay went onto win the trophy after beating the Angels, this year it was Percy Main Ladies as they won 4-1.
Ashington started brightly and created several chances, but it was the home side who took the lead with a controversial goal.
A corner kick was cleared by the Ashington defence but it fell to the feet of the Percy Main striker who fired home.
The Angels felt a static Main striker standing in an offside position had blocked keeper Coral Duff’s view.
In the exchanges that followed, Ashington assistant coach John Sparrow was sent to the stand for the remainder of the game.
With the Angels still rocking, Percy Main grabbed a second.
Danielle Clasper pulled a goal back with a neat lob over the advancing keeper following a through ball from Corrie Murphy to make it 2-1 at half-time.
The Ashington side pushed forward in the second half to try and rescue the game but were hit with two late goals, which secured the victory for Percy Main.
Cramlington Juniors Ladies secured the other cup final spot with a 1-0 victory over North Shields Ladies.
