Ladies see off Blakelaw in league

ASHINGTON Ladies continued their good form with another convincing win in bitterly cold conditions at Blakelaw on Sunday.

The visitors led one-nil at the interval following Ashley Betts’ goal after 15 minutes, although the Angels missed several other chances during the period through Karen Wright, Lauren Kavanagh and Danny Clasper.

Second half, the home side got into the game hitting the bar and Laura Powell making a couple of good saves in the Ashington goal.

But the Angels stepped up a gear and doubled their lead through Stacey Naples with a shot from just outside the box.

Kristie Fenwick got on the scoresheet adding a third with a well drilled shot and after being put through by Clasper, Meghan Tighe coolly stabbed home goal number four.

On Sunday Ashington play Longhoughton Rangers with a 1pm kick-off at Pegswood Welfare.
