Hat-trick hero Dan Maguire described recording his first treble for Blyth Spartans as “a relief”.

The front man has hit braces on a number of occasions before finally getting to walk away with the match ball after Saturday’s win over Stafford Rangers.

“It’s great to get the three,” he said.

“Obviously I have got two a few times this season but it’s a relief to the get the three and hopefully I can kick on from here.

“A striker plays on confidence and little bobbles go your way, everything is just going in at the moment.”

Since joining Spartans in November 2012, Maguire’s rise to prominence has been astounding.

Signed as a squad player he has become a key member of the Spartans line-up, but he paid tribute to the “professional set up” at the club, pointing to that as a reason for the impressive season so far.

“I’ve had a few different managers here since I’ve been at the club but we have a good, professional set up, that goes right the way through the changing room and it brings the best out of the players,” he said.
