ASHINGTON CFC’s entire playing squad have committed themselves to the Woodhorn Lane outfit for the 2012-13 season.
The only player missing from those who finished the last campaign will be defender Darren Lough, who recently signed a professional contract with Icelandic side KA Akureyri
Ashington boss Gary Middleton said: “I’m obviously delighted that everyone has put pen to paper after we enjoyed such a good season last year.
“In this day and age it’s quite easy for players to jump ship as some have done at other clubs where there is a better deal on the table, so from that point of view it’s pleasing that our players want to stop and build on last year.”
Middleton’s squad – boosted by newcomers Paul Antony and Phil Cave – report back for pre-season training on Tuesday with the boss declaring that the ‘hard work starts now’.
Middleton added: “We may be returning a week earlier than some clubs but we want to have a good pre-season and the hard work starts now.”
And he revealed that in the near future, other new additions may be joining the club.
“We are going to have some players on trial with us over the next few weeks,” he said.
“We will be having a look at them and take things from there.”
Ashington’s first warm-up match is scheduled for Friday, July 13, with an away trip to Morpeth Town.
